Simcoe County residents were treated to partial eclipse on Thursday night. A partly cloudy sky on Thursday created a backdrop for optimal viewing conditions of a late August partial lunar eclipse. A partial lunar eclipse happens when the Earth moves between the sun and the full moon, but they are not precisely aligned. This particular one was known as a deep, partial eclipse, as almost the entire moon was covered. Many CTV News viewers and readers put their cameras to the sky and snapped a few shots of the celestial event.
