If you don’t need to go out, stay home: OPP

This is the message the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are releasing during the blizzard whipping its way across the Central Ontario region.

Roads in Wasaga Beach, Clearwater and Springwater townships were closed due to poor visibility and blowing snow.

“As a winter storm moves through the area, roads and visibility are rapidly deteriorating, creating hazardous conditions for motorists,” said the OPP in a statement.

On Monday as the storm broke, Huronia West OPP has received a significant number of reports regarding collisions and stranded vehicles.

“Officers continue to respond to calls for service, however, emergency vehicles and tow trucks are experiencing significant delays with some roads being restricted or impassable. Motorists who become stranded may face prolonged wait times for emergency services,” the OPP said.
