Hundreds take part in Wounded Warriors Canada Ride for Mental Health

Hundreds of cyclists gathered at Ontario Provincial Police Headquarters in Orillia Saturday to raise awareness and support for mental health initiatives.

The Wounded Warriors Canada 2025 Ride for Mental Health is part of a national movement stretching across the coast that focuses on supporting the well-being of veterans, first responders, and their families.

“Now more than ever, we are aware of the challenges and tragic impact mental health injuries have on our Veterans, First Responders and their families. The Ride for Mental Health will provide a platform to foster mental health education, highlight and share lived experiences surrounding post-traumatic growth and provide an opportunity for Canadians to set and achieve personal goals – all while making a direct impact through fundraising in support of our life changing mental health programs," said Scott Maxwell, executive director, Wounded Warriors Canada.

Riders of all ages hopped on their bikes, strapped in their helmets and joined thousands of participants across the country, cycling solo, in community groups, or as part of organized supported rides.

Ontario’s Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response and Simcoe North MPP Jill Dunlop helped send riders off, emphasizing the importance of this event.

“This ride is more than just a cycling event, it’s a powerful movement that raises awareness, builds connections, and helps break down the stigma surrounding mental health, especially for those who serve and protect our communities,” Dunlop said. “It is a strong reminder that mental health is health.”

The morning ride began at OPP Headquarters on Memorial Avenue, with hundreds joining the cause.

Minister Dunlop thanked supporters who continue to make the Ride for Mental Health an annual tradition. “To the riders, organizers, supports, first responders, veterans, and families, thank you for making this event so impactful and for your ongoing commitment to this important cause,” Dunlop said.
