Provincial police are investigating after human remains were discovered near the Boyne River in Alliston over the weekend. Police say emergency crews, including the Emergency Response Team, K9 Unit, Identification Services and New Tecumseth Fire Rescue, were called to the area on Saturday, shortly after 11:30 a.m. A large police presence could be observed near King Street and the Boyne River. “The preliminary information suggests this is an isolated incident with no signs of a broader threat,” said police. “Police resources have cleared the area.” Investigators say they are working to determine the identity of the person and the cause of death. The Nottawasaga OPP Crime Unit is conducting the probe with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Police say no further details will be released until a medical examination has been completed.
