Highway 26 reopens after Saturday closure in poor weather

Provincial police reopened one of Clearview Township’s main highways Saturday evening after shutting it down due to poor weather conditions.

In a 5:03 p.m. social media post, Huronia West OPP reported that Highway 26 was closed in both directions between Klondike Park Road to County Road 7. The closure included all access roads between both intersections.

Many rural Simcoe County roads are notorious for whiteout conditions caused by blowing snow on windy winter days. The OPP confirmed that Saturday’s closure was due to poor weather.

In a 9:29 p.m. update Saturday evening, the OPP confirmed that the highway had reopened.
