Firearms, hundreds of bullets and a knife seized by police after a raid at a property in Melancthon (an hour southwest of Barrie). After several calls about the discharge of multiple firearms, Dufferin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) spoke with the complainants, who reported hearing numerous gunshots fired in their direction and described hearing bullets whistling overhead. Police arrived at a vacant property on August 9 at almost 3 p.m. and found five people on the vacant land, two of whom admitted admitted to shooting their guns. OPP seized four firearms, all of the ammunition and two possession and acquisition licences (PALs). Police then attended a residence in Brampton, where they seized an additional five firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, numerous magazines, and a knife. As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Brampton man, was charged with: A 32-year-old Brampton woman was charged with: Police remind the public that firearms can only be discharged in a lawful manner that does not place people, property, or the public at risk. Unsafe firearm use may result in criminal charges, firearm seizures, and the suspension or revocation of firearms licences.
