Flags are now flying throughout the heart of Barrie as the city prepares for the return of the highly anticipated Troubadour Festival Summer Concert Series in just one week. Crews were seen putting up festival flags Friday morning around the downtown core, ahead of the kickoff on Sat., June 6. The flags build on the excitement of the four-part series, which will bring thousands to Meridian Place throughout the summer. Music kicks off at 5 p.m. with the Local Opener Showcase, featuring performances by The Jammers Waffle House, Kendra Gabrielle and Makinna Givens. At 7:30 p.m., Sam Polley and the Old Tomorrows will take the Meridian Place stage. Headlining the evening is Canadian country-rock powerhouse The Road Hammers at 8:30 p.m. Families can also take part in the new Troubadour Treehouse programming, featuring a free interactive show at noon with popular children’s performers Caitie and Tobee. Festival activities launch earlier in the day this year, with the Troubadour Street Stage opening at 12 p.m. Organizers say the goal is to create a full-day festival atmosphere, encouraging visitors to explore the downtown core from afternoon into the evening.
