A vacant house across from St. Paul’s Hospital was demolished Sunday after a fire the night before. The Saskatoon Fire Department said crews were called to the 300 block of Avenue Q South just before 7 p.m. Saturday. Neighbours told CTV News the smell of smoke was strong and fire trucks quickly filled the street. The fire department said the fire was brought under control within 50 minutes. A city excavator tore down the house Sunday morning as firefighters continued to extinguish hot spots. No injuries were reported. A fire investigator is working to identify the cause and estimate the damage.
