Cocaine and $40K seized by police following search warrants: OPP

Police grabbed more than 900 grams of cocaine and more than $41K in cash during raids in Midland and Barrie.

Police seized over a pound of cocaine and thousands of dollars from a residence in Barrie following a second search warrant on Thursday afternoon, according to OPP.

Authorities conducted two search warrants, the first at a home on Bay Street in Midland where they allegedly seized 280 grams of cocaine and around $1,300.

As a result of the warrant, police said they arrested and charged five people inside the home, one of them on an outstanding arrest warrant from an unrelated investigation.

After the second search warrant at an apartment on Mary Street in Barrie police said they seized 635 grams of cocaine and $40,000. A Barrie man, 32, who was charged after the first warrant, faces additional drug trafficking-related charged, according to authorities.

All accused will appear in court at a later date.
