The first Saturday of the Troubadour Summer Concert Series got underway with a delightful performance from children’s performers Caitie and Tobee. Hundreds gathered at the Treehouse Stage in Meridian Place downtown Barrie Saturday for the day’s festivities. The duo had kids up singing and dancing right from the get-go. From hello and name songs to classics like “If You’re Happy and You Know It,” the pair energized the crowd and had everyone up on their feet. Heather Morgan, a Troubadour Summer Concert Series attendee, told CTV News her 3-year-old granddaughter, who deals with several different medical issues and has procedures on a regular basis, loves Caitie. “Miss Caitie is what gets her through. Any time we have to do something hard, ‘I need a Miss Caitie!’ and then we survive and we get through and Miss Caitie reminds us we are going to be okay.” She explained why she thinks Caitie resonates so much with children. “I think Miss Caitie is really good at giving language for feelings and for emotions and really honouring the experiences of children,” says Morgan. Caitie and Tobee are seen and heard all over the world with their Super Simple Songs, where they’ve racked up more than 46 million YouTube subscribers and billions of views. Not only did the day kick off with Caitie and Tobee, but inflatables like bouncy castles and slides were on site for kids to play on. There were also roaming entertainers like Tinker Bell and kids lined up to get face paint.
