Alberta Clipper to sweep through Simcoe County, bringing up to 10 cm of snow

Five to 10 centimetres of snow expected in Barrie, Orillia, Midland, Bracebridge and Parry Sound.

An Alberta Clipper is sweeping through parts of Central Ontario, bringing another round of snow and jittery cold temperatures.

Environment Canada is calling for five to 10 centimetres of snowfall across Barrie, Orillia, Midland, Bracebridge and Parry Sound areas.

The fast-moving clipper is expected to move through early Tuesday evening and taper off overnight. “Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow,” says the national weather agency in a Tuesday notice. “Prepare for deteriorating travel conditions.”

Adding to the wintry challenge is a blast of intense cold.

Wind chill values near -30 C are expected Tuesday morning in Midland and Orillia areas, creating a heightened risk of frostbite on exposed skin.

Residents are advised to layer up, cover skin and limit time outside.

“Watch for colour changes on fingers and toes, pain, numbness, a tingling sensation, or swelling. If present, move indoors and begin warming,” states Environment Canada.
