$73K worth of illegal cannabis seized by police from New Tecumseth cannabis store

Police have seized more than $73,000 worth of illegal cannabis products in New Tecumseth as part of an ongoing investigation that started in the summer.

On Thursday morning, police arrested a 45-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man, charging them with possessing cannabis for the purpose of sale and possessing illicit cannabis. The man was also arrested and charged with four counts of failure to comply with undertaking.

Officers say they received information that the store was allegedly selling and distributing products illegally, without a valid licence prompting a probe by various crime units.

After executing a search warrant, police confiscated $73,707 worth of cannabis products from Mohawk Medical 420 on Victoria Street West in Alliston. Officials say the items included dried cannabis, cannabis butter, and edibles.

The search was conducted by the Nottawasaga Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), the Dufferin CSCU, general patrol officers, and the Crime Reduction Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police.

The duo is set to appear in court at a later date.
