50 years of Wintario celebrated by offering 51 more chances to win

You, too, could wear a Rhinestone Cowboy costume if you play Wintario in the next two months.

The year was 1975, Glen Campbell was at the top of the charts with his familiar cowboy song playing on every transistor radio.

And the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) began a provincial lottery called Wintario that has lasted 50 years by giving back to Ontarians.

To mark this milestone, OLG is offering a gift by launching the Welcome to Wintario Contest, offering a $1 million grand prize alongside 50 secondary prizes of $1,000—no purchase necessary.

Running from August 18 through to October 19, this two-month long contest is open to all Ontario residents aged 18 and older, with no purchase required (limit to one entry per person). Here’s why this is more than just a contest:

• A milestone worth celebrating: Thanks to players, OLG has reinvested approximately $62 billion back into Ontario since 1975 to support healthcare, amateur sports, charities and more.
• Awarding prizes: $59 billion in lottery prizes to lucky Ontarians.
• A nod to nostalgia: The contest name pays tribute to Wintario, Ontario’s first provincial lottery that was broadcast from different communities across Ontario and kicked off OLG’s legacy of giving back.
