Get ready, Barrie – the third installment of one of Ontario’s fastest-growing festivals is taking over the downtown. The Troubadour Summer Concert Series is already underway Saturday, with something for everyone’s tastes, and Barrie-born artist Bahamas set to headline the Meridian Place Stage. The festival grounds along Dunlop Street are filled with activities and entertainment. All-Day Activities For those with an affinity for barbecue, competitors are set to battle it out over chicken thighs and ribs at the Billy Dicks BBQ Amateur Community Cook-Off along the west side of the street. Sweet smells of barbecue will be filling the air. For skaters, the Barrie Skateboarding Association is hosting live demonstrations and competitions all day. On the other side of the street on the east, festival goers can discover the Brightside Collective Market, featuring local crafters and makers, and the final New To You Vintage Vendor Market showcase for the season. If you’re into the arts scene, you can watch live art demonstrations of both local and international artists creating masterpieces right before your eyes. Rundown of the day 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. On the West End Street Stage, Tia Nova will make her way back to the Troubadour stage after being chosen as one of last year’s youth local openers. 3 p.m. Local band Kick will perform. 4 p.m. On Dunlop Street West, the Billy Dicks BBQ Cook-Off Awards Ceremony will take place, where judges will crown a winner. The night Rolling right into the evening, the Local Opener Showcase kicks off at 5 p.m. on the Meridian Place Stage with artists B. Knox, Noah Ruttan and Jolie Anastasia. At 7:30 p.m. Toronto rock group Zeus will fire up the crowd for Bahamas who headline the night at 8:30 p.m. Admission is free for everyone. Attracting thousands of people to the city every summer, the festival continues to build momentum having been recognized as one of Ontario’s top festivals.
