Sudbury police search for 2nd suspect in encampment murder

One person is dead following two suspicious tent fires at Greater Sudbury’s Energy Court encampment on June 11. It’s the second death in two days at the site.

Police in Greater Sudbury have released a photo and the name of a second suspect wanted for murder in connection with a fatal tent fire at the Energy Court homeless encampment last month.

A 41-year-old man died in the tent fire on June 11 that Sudbury police are investigating as a homicide.

“The investigation has determined that several individuals were seen fleeing the two tents immediately after the fire began at approximately 3:20 a.m.,” said a police news release on July 10.

“We are requesting the public’s assistance to locate 31-year-old Bryan Eshquib, who is wanted on an arrest warrant.”

Eshquib is wanted on charges of first-degree murder, weapons possession and arson with disregard for human life.

Already charged with murder in the case is Brandon Gramling-McEwan, 33, who was arrested June 16 on Bruce Avenue.
