Man facing impaired driving charges after crashing through Summerside Electric fence: police

A man is facing charges following an early-morning crash in Summerside, P.E.I., over the weekend.

Summerside Police Services responded to the scene on Harvard Street around 2 a.m. Sunday.

Police say a vehicle went through a fence at the Summerside Electric Utility compound.

A pedestrian in the area told officers they saw a person walking away from the scene.

Police say they found the suspect, who owns the vehicle involved in the crash, at a nearby home.

The 27-year-old Summerside man allegedly showed signs of impairment and was arrested.

He gave two breath samples and police say they both registered more than twice the legal limit.

The man was released with a driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded.

Police say he is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to answer to impaired driving–related charges.
