A man from Glenfanning, P.E.I., is the winner of a $1.5 million Super Set for Life prize. Robert Roche, 64, was helping his aunt prepare for a snowstorm when he decided to buy the Super Set ticket on his way home. “It was kind of a normal day for me. I decided to go up east to see my aunt. There was supposed to be a snowstorm coming and I wanted to make sure she had wood up from the basement, so I went up there to help her out,” he said. “When I left, I stopped at the store and I purchased a couple of Super Set for Life tickets. One of them was the big win.” Roche said when he scanned the ticket the retailer told him he had won a major prize. “It was pretty nice to see that. When it went through the machine and it showed what prize I won, I went out the truck and I shook a little bit,” he said. “From there, I just kind of shoved the ticket in my pocket and I’ve had it in my pocket ever since.” Winners of the Atlantic Lottery Super Set for Life prize can choose between $100,000 a year for 20 years or a lump sum of $1.5 million. Roche chose the lump sum payment. He said he will spend the winnings on a new house, a car for his daughter and possibly a trip along the Cabot Trail. Roche bought the ticket after his 64th birthday but said he has no plans to retire. “I have to pass my time somehow. If I’m sitting around doing nothing, it’s not me,” he said. “I don’t think it’s going to change my life too much. I think I’m just going to be my regular old self and do what I do.
