An Ontario man has died following a collision which led to the closure of part of the Trans-Canada Highway in P.E.I. on Wednesday. Prince District RCMP says officers responded to a report of a head-on collision involving a commercial truck and a pickup truck on Route 1 in Crapaud near the Route 13 intersection at around 5 p.m. A 63-year-old Ontario man in one truck was pronounced dead at the scene, and a woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other truck suffered minor injuries, according to a news release on Thursday. “Initial indications appear to show the commercial truck crossed the center line into the path of the pickup truck,” reads the release. The road was closed for several hours following the collision as a collision reconstructionist examined the scene. Police say alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the collision, and the investigation is ongoing. For more P.E.I. news, visit our dedicated provincial page.
