A former Saskatoon massage therapist will spend two and a half years in federal prison after sexually assaulting five women. Kenneth Braun, 70, led out of Court of Kings Bench in handcuffs Friday morning following Justice Krista Zerr’s reading of her nearly hour-long decision. “Mr. Braun is before me for repeated breaches of trust upon vulnerable victims, resulting in high victim impact,” Zerr said. Braun, who was first charged in 2022, was found guilty last November of five counts of sexual assault involving former female clients in Saskatoon between 2010 and 2021. Evidence from the trial is under a publication ban, so as not to interfere with a future court date. The Crown was seeking a four-year federal prison sentence for the former Saskatoon massage therapist, while the defence argued for a community sentence. The defence argued Braun’s safety would be at risk in a federal prison, as Braun spent more than 30 years as a corrections officer in Saskatoon. Braun is due back in court for separate charges later this year.
