Two pets lost in house fire in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley

Two pets were lost in a house fire in Meadowvale, N.S., Saturday morning.

Fire fighters responded at approximately 4 a.m. There was no sign of fire until they got close to the house, said Deputy Chief Mike Samson of the Kingston District Fire Department.

“We saw flames coming out of the side of the building,” Samson said. “The attack team went in and extinguished a fire in the kitchen.”

Nobody was harmed in the fire, but a dog and a cat were lost. Fire services contacted Red Cross to help the residents who were displaced by the fire.

Samson said there was water damage and the kitchen will need to be repaired but the building was saved.
