Two N.S. men were charged in separate driving incidents last week during traffic enforcement operations in Kings, Digby and Yarmouth counties. Nova Scotia RCMP Southwest Traffic Services conducted three traffic enforcement operations between Dec. 2 and Dec. 6. “These initiatives focused on impaired and dangerous driving in areas identified as ‘hot zones’ for road safety,” an RCMP release reads. During the traffic enforcement operations, police say a 49-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving in Digby County on Dec. 4, after he was observed travelling in the opposing lane on Highway 217. Another driver, a 55-year-old man, was charged with stunting after police say he was doing 118 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. The man was fined $2,422.50. “These projects show the impact of teamwork and targeted enforcement,” says Cst. Greg Bowie, Southwest Traffic Services. “Impaired driving and reckless behaviour put lives at risk.
