Two men with outstanding charges arrested: Cape Breton police

Two men facing numerous outstanding charges were located and arrested by Cape Breton Regional Police Tuesday evening.

Police say the Community Safety Enforcement Unit was on patrol looking to arrest a person on a warrant for failing to attend court.

Officers located the man at a residence in Scotchtown and arrested him.

“While there, officers also located a second person who they were able to identify as being a suspect in other incidents, including a reported theft from Sobeys earlier that day, and also placed him under arrest,” a release from Cape Breton police reads.

Daniel Joseph Gottwald, 43, was charged with:

• failing to attend court
• theft
• assault with a weapon
• possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• break and enter
• mischief
• eight breaches of court-ordered release condition

Daniel Blake Conrad, 35, was charged with:

• theft
• possession of property obtained by crime
• two counts of assault with a weapon
• two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• mischief
• failing to attend court

Both men were scheduled to appear in Sydney provincial court Wednesday to face the charges.
