Pictou County man accused of fleeing from Truro police, running stop signs

Police in Truro, N.S., have charged a driver after he allegedly fled from officers in the town last week.

Truro Police Service pulled over a Kia Forte on Victoria Street for an alleged Motor Vehicle Act violation just after 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say the driver obstructed them while pulled over and then sped away.

The driver also allegedly drove through several stop signs.

Police say they did not pursue the car due to public safety.

A 42-year-old male from Pictou County was later identified as the driver.

The Kia Forte was found at a home on Victoria Street on Monday.

The suspect was arrested and charged with the following offences:

• no pursuit involved - flight from peace officer
• dangerous operation of motor vehicle
• resists/obstruct peace officer
• driving motor vehicle while privilege of obtaining licence revoked

The man is set to appear in Truro provincial court on Feb. 25.
