The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) says it is investigating a Halifax police pursuit and arrest that left a man with serious injuries over the weekend. Halifax Regional Police officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit early Saturday morning. A spike belt was deployed to stop the vehicle. SiRT says a man got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers tracked the man and arrested him. SiRT says there was an altercation during his arrest, and he suffered serious injuries to his face and chest. The team has taken over responsibility for the investigation. No other details have been released.
