Off-duty officer fatally hits pedestrian along N.S. highway: SiRT

A fatal collision involving an off-duty Nova Scotia police officer is under investigation by the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT).

A vehicle struck a man walking on the side of Highway 103 near Tantallon Saturday night, according to a news release from SiRT.

The RCMP responded to a 911 call and the driver was identified as an off-duty Bridgewater police officer.

The victim was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.

SiRT is looking for any dashcam footage, photos or other information of Highway 103 near Exit 5 between 11 p.m. and midnight on Saturday. People can email SiRT at [e-mail].

SiRT investigates all matters involving death, serious injury, intimate partner violence and sexual assault that may have arisen from the actions of police officers in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
