RCMP in New Brunswick are searching for a man who escaped from the Southeast Regional Correctional Centre in Shediac. Police say 35-year-old Todd John Lewis escaped the jail at around 5:22 p.m. on Thursday by jumping the fence and running on foot towards Route 15. In a news release Friday, police say Lewis had previously been charged with weapon related offences. He is described by police as being around five-foot-seven weighing about 146 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue pants, a brown coat, and a black bonnet. Police believe Lewis could be in the Greater Moncton area. Alert Ready issued The RCMP released an Alert Ready message at 12:20 p.m. Friday informing residents of the escapee. Police warn people not to pick up any hitchhikers and to report anything suspicious. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is told by police not to approach him as he may be armed and dangerous and instead contact 911 or the RCMP.
