PWHL Takeover Tour to make first stop in Halifax next month

The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) has announced it’s coming to Halifax for the first time next month.

Two Takeover Tour games will be held at the Scotiabank Centre and feature matchups between Montreal and Toronto on Dec. 17 and Ottawa and Boston on Jan. 11, 2026.

The tour will consist of 16 neutral-site games played in 11 different cities in the United States and Canada.

It will also mark the first time the PWHL will stop in Calgary, Chicago, Dallas, Hamilton, Washington, D.C., and Winnipeg.

The Halifax game is the first stop on the tour. The last game will be Boston vs. Vancouver in Edmonton on April 7.

“Nova Scotians love their hockey, and there’s real excitement about seeing some of the best players in the world right here at home in Halifax,” said Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston in a video posted to the Scotiabank Centre’s Facebook page.

“We are the perfect location for this incredible moment in women’s hockey, and I know Nova Scotians will come together, pack the rink and give the players a welcome that they will never forget.”

The PWHL says last season’s Takeover Tour drew more than 123,000 fans with record-breaking crowds across nine games.

Presale single tickets and two-game packages go on sale Thursday, followed by the general single games, which go on sale Friday.
