An old military ordnance has reportedly washed up at a popular park in Nova Scotia’s Hants County. The RCMP says it is responding to Burntcoat Head Park in Noel along with the Canadian Armed Forces. A small police and military presence will be in the area as the item is removed and disposed of. “People in the area of Burntcoat Head Park can expect to hear a muffled explosion, similar to the sound of a gunshot, as the safe disposal of this item is taking place,” said police in a statement on Facebook. The parking lot at the end of Faulkner Lane is currently closed to the public. People are asked to avoid the area. “There is no risk to public safety provided all directions from parks staff, police, and military personnel are followed,” reads an advisory from the RCMP.
