Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston – who recently attended an energy conference in Alberta – is heading to Nunavut for an internal trade meeting. The meeting in Iqaluit, which will be held on Thursday, will focus on removing barriers on trade and labour mobility between provinces and territories, according to a news release from the Nova Scotia government. “Now more than ever, with Trump’s tariffs, we need to remove any remaining barriers between provinces and territories, help us mitigate the effects of global uncertainty, and create more opportunity for businesses, workers and consumers. Canada has talked about this for decades but now we are helping turn it into action,” Houston said in the release. Chief of Staff and General Counsel Nicole LaFosse Parker and Tracey Taweel, executive deputy minister of the Department of Intergovernmental Affairs, will join Houston on the trip.
