The Nova Scotia ports of Halifax and Sydney are sharing highlights from their 2025 cruise ship season, which wrapped up last month. The Port of Halifax had its longest cruise season on record, running from April 4 to Nov. 19. Other Halifax highlights included: “I want to thank our entire cruise team, service providers, and community partners for their work this season,” said Robyn Stewart, manager of cruise development at the Halifax Port Authority. “Building on our success, we want to strengthen Halifax’s position as a premier cruise destination and continue creating memorable guest experiences for all our visitors.” The Port of Halifax numbers for 2025 were: Port of Sydney More than 100 cruise ships visited Cape Breton Island at the Port of Sydney, welcoming nearly 200,000 passengers and crew. “The 2025 season showcased the strength, adaptability, and excitement of the cruise industry,” said Nicole MacAulay, manager of cruise at the Port of Sydney. “We’re incredibly grateful for the continued community support in making this another outstanding year for the Port of Sydney.” The Port of Sydney numbers for the 2025 season were: A release from the cruise ports said cruise guests contributed to the tourism industry, supporting local businesses, attractions, restaurants and shops. A study from Cruise Lines International Association in 2023 estimated the sector generates nearly $200 million annually and supports close to 1,000 jobs in the province.
