Nova Scotia Health releases new format for family doctor waitlist updates

Nova Scotia Health has released its monthly Need a Family Practice Registry update under a new format.

The change was announced back in January.

The health authority says a draft report was then produced to test, learn and refine the data.

The April report is now available online and shows data at the provincial, zone and community health network levels.

As of April 1, there were 61,947 Nova Scotians on the Need a Family Practice Registry.

The last published number on March 1 was 63,221 Nova Scotians – marking a decrease in 1,274 patients.

“This number reflects the cumulative result of activity on the registry since its creation, including registrations, attachments to family doctor or nurse practitioner, and other updates to registration status over time,” reads a summary from Nova Scotia Health.

The health authority says 5.7 per cent of the province’s population is on the registry.

The data will be updated again in early May.
