Power restored to more than 5,000 Halifax-area customers

Power has been restored following a large outage on the Halifax peninsula Friday morning.

The outage, which began just after 7 a.m., stretched from Bayers Road in the west end to Inglis Street in the south end.

More than 5,000 customers were without power at the height of the outage, according to Nova Scotia Power.

Power was restored around 10 a.m.

At that time there were 29 other outages in the province affecting nearly 3,000 customers, according to Nova Scotia Power outage map.
