Moncton man charged with driving 199 km/h on Nova Scotia highway

A 20-year-old Moncton, N.B., man received a hefty fine for allegedly driving 199 km/h on a Nova Scotia highway, according to the RCMP.

Police say an officer detected a vehicle driving at 180 km/h along Highway 104. Moments later, the radar confirmed a speed of 199 km/h.

The officer stopped a Honda Civic on Highway 142 off Exit 5 of Highway 104.

“During their interaction with the driver, a 20-year-old man from Moncton, the officer noted an odour of alcohol,” an RCMP news release reads.

The driver received a $2,422.50 fine for stunting and a seven-day administrative licence suspension for low blood alcohol concentration.

The man’s vehicle was also impounded for seven days.
