Man facing weapons charges after Cape Breton police seize firearms

A 43-year-old man is facing charges after police searched a property on Armada Drive in Victoria Mines, N.S.

Cape Breton Regional Police Street Crime and Criminal Intelligence officers stopped a vehicle on Daley Road in New Victoria, N.S., on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation and arrested the driver.

Police say officers obtained information to execute a court-ordered search warrant and seized two loaded firearms, along with several vehicles and heavy machinery.

Michael Anthony Cusack has been charged with:

• unauthorized possession of two firearms
• knowledge that possession is unauthorized
• possession of two prohibited or restricted firearms
• careless use of two firearms
• possession of a weapon and property obtained by crime
• two breaches of previous court-ordered conditions

Cusack was set to appear in Sydney provincial court on Friday.
