The man who died on Saturday night as a result of his e-bike colliding with a vehicle has been identified as Everett Alexson of Kahkewistahaw First Nation. Alexson was identified as the victim of the incident by his cousin Shanee Alexson and the mother of his two children, Mary Ann Kasandra. According to the Regina Police Service, officers were called to the 400 block of Albert Street around 8 p.m. on Saturday. There, they located a man who appeared to have serious, life-threatening injuries. They say officers attempted life saving measures before EMS arrived. He was taken to hospital where he later died of his injuries. Alexson was 34 years old, and Shanee told CTV News that he was a gentle and kind person with a big heart. “He really, really loved his kids. He loved skateboarding, he loved his family, he was cultural and I’m so proud of how much he’s accomplished,” she said. Alexson leaves behind an 11-year-old daughter and nine-year-old son, and according to Shanee, Alexson and the children’s mother are expecting a third child. Shanee has started an online fundraiser to cover the costs of his funeral, which will take place this weekend at the Kahkewistahaw First Nation. Police said evidence collected so far shows the e-bike collided with a vehicle as that vehicle turned into a parking lot. The investigation into the collision is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers. A small memorial has been started in Alexson’s honour at the location of the incident, with a stuffed bear and a bouquet of flowers currently adorning a tree in the parking lot.
