N.S. RCMP arrest man for impaired driving, refusing to stop for police

A Nova Scotia man is facing charges for allegedly impaired driving and refusing to stop for police.

RCMP said officers received a report of a suspected impaired driver leaving Barrington on Thursday around 9:50 p.m. Police then located the driver in Newellton on Cape Sable Island.

According to police, an officer attempted to stop the driver, but they refused.

RCMP said officers continued patrols and eventually located the driver in a parking lot off Highway 330. The driver initially resisted arrest, said police, but he was eventually taken into custody.

A 36-year-old man from Barrington is facing charges of impaired driving, dangerous driving and flight from a peace officer. He was released pending a future court appearance.
