Man charged with attempted murder after Kentville, N.S., stabbing

A 29-year-old man is facing several charges, including attempted murder, following a stabbing in Kentville, N.S.

Kentville Police Service responded to a report of a stabbing involving a man and a woman at a home in the town on Monday.

Officers arrived and helped remove other people from the home while the man allegedly barricaded himself inside.

Police say he surrendered after about two hours of negotiating.

One person was taken to Valley Regional Hospital with injuries sustained during the incident. Police have not said the extent of their injuries.

Carter Adam Robert Law of Middleton, N.S., is facing the following charges:

• attempted murder
• aggravated assault
• assault with a weapon
• assault on a police officer with a weapon
• uttering threats to a person
• resist/obstruct police officers
• mischief under $5,000
