Man charged with arson after fires at Kentville baseball fields: police

A man is facing arson charges following recent fires at the baseball fields in Kentville, N.S.

Kentville Police Service was dispatched to a baseball field dugout on fire on March 31 around 3 p.m.

Officers and the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department arrived and extinguished the flames.

Police say they spoke with people in the area and identified a possible suspect.

He was later interviewed and allegedly confessed to setting the fire in the dugout.

Police say he was also responsible for another recent arson, as well as a fire in July 2025 at the canteen near Ballfield #4, which is the town’s softball field off Park Street.

The 41-year-old man has been charged with two counts of arson causing damage to property.

He is scheduled to appear in Kentville provincial court on Monday.
