The 48th annual Christmas at the Forum in Halifax has already sold out. “We are in our second year of Thursday craft shows, so it’s a four-day event. We’re sold out, so everything is going great. You know what breaks my heart is I have so many calls and emails that people wanting to come in and I just can’t accommodate them,” says Chris Banks, Christmas at the Forum owner. This year they have extended their time slots to two hours and 45 minutes. They feel it is the perfect amount of time for vendors shoppers alike. “We felt at the end of the year, at the end of the show, that we recognized that we needed to have a scenario where we could take the feeling of being rushed out, and we had that. We have completed that with all the success that we could have ever dreamed of. People are happy. People don’t feel rushed,” says Banks. Banks say there used to be 30,000 people who stopped by on the weekend but that has changed and this year they say there will be 16,950 people spaced out across time slots over the weekend. “Where else are you going to get the mom and pops making things from their heart?” says Banks. This year there are 404 booths and 307 vendors. For those looking to stop by next year, Banks recommends getting your tickets early. “We don’t know what the future holds. If it’s a Christmas at the Forum, at the X, I’m looking at all kinds of avenues. We just don’t know what the future is. But we will be here. We will be somewhere in this city,” says Banks.
