The Cape Breton Regional Police is investigating the death of a person in River Ryan.

Police in Cape Breton are investigating the death of a person in River Ryan, N.S.

The Cape Breton Regional Police says they believe the death happened early Tuesday morning and it was the result of a dispute between two people.

When officers arrived on scene around 1:00 a.m. they found an unresponsive person. When EHS arrived, they pronounced the person deceased.

“Police located a second person at the residence who was arrested and remains in police custody,” reads a news release from Cape Breton Regional Police.

Police say the victim and suspect are known to each other and they are treating it as an isolated incident “with no risk to public safety.”

Major Crime and Forensic Identification officers are investigating, along with the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police say the identity of the victim won’t be released until the autopsy and notification of next of kin has been completed.
