Fire crews responded to a fire on Government Wharf Road in Eastern Passage, N.S., early Monday morning. Thirty firefighters were on the scene. They arrived as early as 2:50 a.m., said District Chief Steve Bussey. “The fire was initially reported by a lobster fisherman who was checking on his boat about 2:30 a.m. and saw some smoke coming from the building,” said District Chief Kevin Corkum with Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency. The fire was contained to one building that Bussey said he believes was a complete loss. “Crews battled difficult conditions on scene,” Corkum said. “Heavy volume of fire, a lot of problems with icing and temperatures. Crews did what they could.
