19-year-old charged with attempted murder after stabbing at Halifax McDonald’s

A 19-year-old is facing an attempted murder charge after a stabbing in Halifax.

A 19-year-old man is facing attempted murder and assault charges after he allegedly stabbed someone at a McDonald’s restaurant in Halifax.

Halifax Regional Police responded to the restaurant on Spring Garden Road around 7:15 p.m. Sunday.

Police say the 19-year-old male victim was taken to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Around 7:25 p.m., officers arrested the suspect near the Tower Road and Victoria Road intersection.

“The victim and suspect are not believed to be known to each other but are believed to have had a dispute leading up to the stabbing,” said Halifax Regional Police in an email to CTV News Atlantic.

Brennen Herdman, 19, was scheduled to appear in court on Monday to face charges of:

• attempted murder
• aggravated assault
• assault with a weapon
