Two people have been charged with arson in connection with a fire at a business in Shediac N.B., on June 25, 2024. Shediac RCMP received a report of a fire at a business on Main Street around 4 a.m. Police determined the fire had been set intentionally inside the business and caused an explosion. An investigation into the arson was led by the RCMP’s Southeast District Crime Reduction Unit. As a result, 22-year-old Kaste Blacksmith from Quebec City and 19-year-old Emrick Charlebois-Marcoux from Sorel Tracy, Que., were charged with arson. They both appeared in Moncton provincial court by tele-remand on Nov. 18. They were both remanded into custody on an unrelated matter and will reappear in court on Dec. 8.
