Six teenagers arrested following alleged assault in Uptown Saint John in August

Saint John police have arrested six teenagers for an alleged assault in the uptown area.

The Saint John Police Force has arrested six teenagers for multiple violent crimes, including an assault in the uptown area last month.

Police responded to a reported fight on the 78-block of Prince William Street around 10:43 p.m. on Aug. 12. A video on social media showed youths using weapons during the incident.

The youths fled the scene before police arrived. The front window of Java Moose Coffee Roasters was damaged during the altercation.

Police say they arrested a 17-year-old male for assault with a weapon and failure to comply with a youth sentence on Aug. 14.

In total, police say they have now arrested six youths ranging from 14-to-18-years-old following an investigation into the incident.

The accused, who cannot be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, have been charged with:

• robbery
• assault with a weapon
• possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• possession of stolen property
• administering a noxious thing
• mischief under $5,000
