Saint John police seek driver and vehicle that alledgedly struck and killed man’s dog

Saint John police are looking for a man who may be involved in a hit and run resulting in the death of a seeing eye dog.

Saint John police are looking for a driver and vehicle that allegedly struck and killed a dog, said a Thursday news release.

A 69-year-old man contacted police after his dog was struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk at Wyatt Crescent and Heather Way between 3:00 and 3:30 p.m. on May 12 while it was walking behind him.

The dog later died from his injuries.

The man, who is visually impaired, was carrying a white can and wearing a traffic safety vest, said the release.

Police are asking for witnesses or anyone in with dash-cam or surveillance footage to contact Saint John police or Crime Stoppers.
