Saint John police looking for man serving 4-year sentence for theft, firearm offences

The Saint John Police Force is looking for a 29-year-old man who is serving a four-year sentence on theft and firearms charges.

Police say a warrant was issued for Kody Hiltz on Tuesday for violating the conditions of his statutory release.

“There is information that he may frequent the Saint John, Blacks Harbour, and St. George areas,” a news release from police reads.

Hiltz is described as standing six-foot-two and weighing 176 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes.

On Monday he was seen wearing a black hoodie and grey sweatpants. He was carrying a red Budweiser cooler or bag.

Hiltz is serving a four-year, six-month federal sentence for:

• motor vehicle theft
• dangerous operation of a conveyance
• possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
• possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
• two counts of obstructing a public or peace officer
• flight from a peace officer
• possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order
• unauthorized possession of a firearm/prohibited or restricted weapon in a motor vehicle
• unauthorized possession of a firearm
• careless use/storage of a firearm
• operation while prohibited
• three counts of failure to comply with a probation order

Police are warning the public not to approach Hiltz if they see him. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 506-648-3333, or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
