Saint John police arrest, charge second person in murder case

Saint John police have charged a second person with first-degree murder in connection with the death of a man last week.

The Saint John Police Force has arrested and charged a second person with first-degree murder in connection to the death of a man last week.

Police say they arrested a 35-year-old man in the Richmond Street area around 12:20 p.m. on Monday as part of the ongoing investigation.

Hunter Floyd was charged with first-degree murder and appeared in court on Tuesday. He is being held in custody and is scheduled to return to court on Nov. 18.

On Oct. 20, police responded to a 911 call involving a weapon in the Taylor Avenue area around 12:17 a.m. They found an unconscious 41-year-old man who had suffered serious injuries.

Police say the victim went to hospital and was later pronounced deceased.

Staff Sgt. Shawna Fowler told CTV News Atlantic the victim’s name is John Robert Beshara.

Later that same day, police arrested a 36-year-old man at a University Avenue business. He was charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm and breach of a probation order.

Fowler said his name is Kieran Lopez.

The investigation is ongoing.
