Quebec man killed in single-vehicle crash in New Brunswick

The RCMP says a 52-year-old Quebec man is dead following a single-vehicle crash in northern New Brunswick.

A Quebec man has died following a single-vehicle collision in northwestern New Brunswick.

RCMP said the crash happened Friday around 1:15 p.m. on Highway 2 near Madawaska Maliseet First Nation. Police said it’s believed the driver lost control of the vehicle, struck a guardrail and a road sign, and then crashed into the ditch.

The driver, a 52-year-old man from Saint-Camille-de-Bellechasse, Que., died at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle at the time.

Police said they believe speed was a factor in the crash.

Members of the Edmundston Fire Department, Edmundston Police Department, and Ambulance New Brunswick also attended the scene. A member of the coroner’s office and an RCMP collision reconstructionist are also assisting in the investigation.
