Moncton woman arrested for drug trafficking

A 29-year-old Moncton, N.B., woman has been arrested following a drug trafficking investigation.

New Brunswick RCMP Provincial Crime Reduction Unit (PCRU) began an investigation on Aug. 5 into illegal drug trafficking in Moncton, a news release from RCMP said.

The PCRU members, along with Codiac Regional RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit, executed a search warrant on Aug. 22, at a residence on Joyce Avenue.

Police say they seized significant quantities of several drugs they believed are:

• cocaine
• benzodiazepine pills
• methamphetamine
• hydromorphone
• cannabis
• hash

During the search, police also seized:

• a Taser
• a loaded sawed-off shotgun
• various ammunition
• drug trafficking paraphernalia
• cellphones
• money

The 29-year-old woman was arrested and later released. She will appear in Moncton provincial court on Nov. 19 at 9:30 a.m.
