Fredericton police seize half a kilogram of fentanyl worth nearly $94K

The Fredericton Police Force seized nearly 445 grams of fentanyl worth roughly $94,000 and arrested two people last month as part of a months-long investigation.

Police executed a search warrant and arrested Clayton Daigle, 28, and an unnamed 32-year-old woman on Oct. 21, according to a news release from police. Along with the fentanyl, they seized:

• 230 methamphetamine pills
• 40 grams of cocaine
• eight grams of methamphetamine
• cash
• digital scales
• drug paraphernalia

“This amount of fentanyl potentially translates to more than 220,000 street-level doses, underscoring the severe threat such quantities pose to public safety,” said inspector of operations David Cooper in the release. “Coupled with a street value of nearly $94,000 in seized drugs, these results highlight the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and coordinated enforcement in keeping these deadly substances out of our community.”

Daigle faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl, possession of the proceeds of crime and failure to comply with an undertaking.

The unnamed woman also faces trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime charges.

Both suspects will have court dates in December.
